Dear Gesu Families,

The Gesu Faculty Committee for Phase 2 outdoor space is excited to begin dreaming, especially with the tease of the warm weather. We recently met on Wednesday, March 4 to start the brainstorming process. There were some very exciting and innovative ideas shared.  The committee was also tasked with gathering ideas and input from the entire faculty.  While there is a template in place for this space, there are many possibilities yet to be determined. The committee will meet again on March 24.  It is an exciting time for our school and parish community as we continue to grow into the next 100 years.

Thank you for supporting this Lenten tradition.

Gesu School Annual Giving

We invite you to support our Annual Giving Fund, which bridges the approximately $1,700 gap between tuition and the actual cost of educating each student. This fund ensures our students and teachers have the resources to thrive, carrying our mission into the next 100 years.

A Special Focus on Safety and Security

A key priority this year is supporting new security initiatives. In addition to offsetting general operational expenses, your donation will fund enhancements such as:

  • The cost of a full-time security officer and eventually a School Resource Officer.

  • The Centegix Emergency Button Alert System.

  • Armor Safety Films installed on all first-floor windows.

These initiatives are essential steps in maintaining a secure, modern learning environment. Nothing is more important than making Gesu a safe place to learn, work, and pray.

Click here to make a one-time or recurring gift. You may also send a check to the parish office. Thank you for your generosity!

Gesu Century Gala

Thank you to everyone who purchased tickets and sponsorships for our upcoming Gesu Century Gala in April. We are grateful for the overwhelmingly positive response! Ticket sales are now closed because we are currently over capacity and do not anticipate that additional seating will become available.

If you have already purchased tickets and have assembled a table of friends who want to sit together, please email msvatora@churchofthegesu.org with that information no later than March 20. Please include if anyone in your group prefers a gluten free/vegan meal.

Thank you once again for your interest in attending our Gesu Century Gala. We deeply appreciate the incredible support and excitement surrounding this important milestone!

News From the Nurse

As Spring approaches, allergies, asthma, pink eye (conjunctivitis) and other viruses (common colds, hand-foot-mouth, etc) start to increase. If your child has seasonal allergies and taking medication, please encourage them to drink more water during the school day. If your child has asthma, the school can keep a rescue inhaler in the clinic or the student is allowed to self-carry a rescue inhaler; but the school must have a current asthma plan on file that is signed by their medical provider (ORC 3313.716). During the Spring, schools will also see an increase in “pink eye” (conjunctivitis). There are 4 types of conjunctivitis (allergic, contact exposure, viral and bacterial) but only viral and bacterial are contagious. Sometimes it is difficult to sort out the non-contagious from the contagious as the school nurse is not allowed to diagnose. The school policy requires children with symptoms consistent with contagious “pink eye” to have a medical evaluation and provide the school with written documentation for clearance before returning to school. If contagious, your child must complete a minimum of a full 24 hours of antibiotic medication before returning to school. The school will send out a grade level notice if there are 2 confirmed contagious cases within 7 days (confirmed means that signed medical documentation was provided to the school). The best defense is a good offense!  Have your child: wash their hands frequently especially if using a tissue or touching their nose; avoid touching/rubbing their eyes as this can transfer bacteria to the eye; take baths/showers or changing clothes after playing outside to remove any pollen; do not share items including towels, washcloths, blankets, or pillow cases from others. Please contact Dawn Delmoro, RN (x119) if you need asthma forms or have other concerns.

SUPPORT CRS RICE BOWL
Most teenagers don’t start their day by walking down a hill to collect water, feeding pigs or tending vegetable gardens. But for 14-year-old Adriana, who lives in the remote village of Ermera in Timor-Leste, these are daily responsibilities. In a region where malnutrition is common among adolescent girls, Adriana’s physically demanding routine shows how important adequate nutrition is for healthy growth. CRS stepped in to help. Visit crsricebowl.org/week-4 to read this week’s Story of Hope.
