It has been a true pleasure to welcome back our returning students and to greet the many new faces joining our school community this year. As the school year gets underway, students are actively engaging in (re)establishing daily routines, procedures, and expectations. In addition, initial assessments are helping us determine baseline knowledge, which will enable our teachers to tailor instruction to meet the unique needs of each learner.  We’re also thrilled to welcome several new faculty and staff members, who have already brought enthusiasm, fresh perspectives, and innovative ideas to our team.  As always, we look forward to partnering with you throughout the year to support our students’ academic, social, and spiritual growth. Here's to a successful and enriching school year ahead!

The Fall Scholastic Book Fair is just around the corner!  The book fair will be set up in the gym on September 29-October 3.  As always, there will be a Family Night during the fair to allow a time for parents to visit as well.  Family Night for Fall's book fair will be held on Tuesday, 5pm-7pm.  A portion of the sales from each book fair goes toward purchasing books for the teachers' classrooms as well as the school library.  For ease of payment, please also consider setting up a Virtual Wallet.  This can be done by accessing our school's Book Fair web page. We would also like to extend a huge THANK YOU to Jana Dlubak and Jessica Constien for volunteering to set up and run the fair!

We are excited that LuAnn Montz Photography will be taking our school's Fall pictures on Tuesday, September 16.  Order envelopes were sent home last week.  Envelopes can be given to your child's classroom teacher.  An individual photo will be taken of each student along with a class photo.  There will be no Fall picture retakes.  However, we will have another school photo session in the Spring.  Thank you to LuAnn Montz for partnering with us.

Thank you so much to all those who dotated to the Diocese of Toledo Scholarship Fund (SGO) this past tax season.  Over $10,000 was designated directly for St. Peter School to help reduce the cost of tuition for several families.  As we near the end of this calendar year, we encourage you to consider taking advantage of this tax credit opportunity to help make it possible for students in our community to receive a Catholic Education at little to no cost.  Scan the QR code above for more information.  If you have any questions, please reach out to the school office.

The Diocese has also chosen to improve the application process for families by eliminating the need to apply through the Diocese SGO website.  Instead, each school is able to determine their own application process while continuing to prioritize families with lower income.  St. Peter School will run a report from the EdChoice Portal sorting it by Federal Poverty Level to determine students in greatest need and award SGO funds to families who indicate additional financial need on their Tuition Agreements for the school year.  The award amounts may fluctuate each year as it depends on the amount of funds donated during each tax season.

Congratulations to our St. Pete's 5th and 6th grade volleyball teams for their home game wins on Sep. 6th!

Healthy digital media use tips for families

  • Do not feel pressured to introduce technology early. Media devices are designed to be intuitive, and children can learn quickly.

  • Find out what type of and how much media are used and what media behaviors are appropriate for each child—and for you. Place consistent limits on hours of media use as well as types of media used.

  • Select and co-view media with your child so they can use media to learn, be creative, and share these experiences with your family.

  • Check your children's media use for their health and safety.

  • Stop use of devices or screens for 1 hour before bedtime. Do not let your children sleep with devices such as smartphones.

  • Discourage entertainment media while doing homework.

  • Plan media-free times together, such as family dinners.

  • Decide on media-free, unplugged locations in homes, such as bedrooms.

  • Engage in family activities that promote well-being, such as sports, reading, and talking with each other.

  • Set a good example. Turn off the TV and put your smartphone on "do not disturb" during media-free times with your family.
